PIO SHORT COURSE - "From the Wright Flyer to Fly-by-Wire," a two-day professional development short course presented by David H. Klyde of Systems Technology, Inc., and David G. Mitchell of Hoh Aeronautics, Inc. PILOT-INDUCED OSCILLATIONS (PIO) are rare, unexpected, and unintended excursions in aircraft attitude and flight path caused by anomalous interactions between the aircraft and pilot. In this two-day short course, the phenomenon of PIO will be examined from its origins to today's events.

Government Contracting Services

STI has been a prime contractor to the US government for nearly fifty years, accomplishing hundreds of research and development programs in vehicle dynamics (air, space, ground, and sea), manual and automatic guidance and control systems, handling qualities, stability and control theory, human operator dynamics, human subsystem dynamics, operator impairment, and related topics.

Consulting Engineering Services

STI offers its diverse expertise and long experience to industry in the form of consulting services in support of programs conducted by major airframe and automotive manufacturers, component suppliers, research institutions, etc.

Forensic Engineering Services

STI offers forensic engineering and expert witness services in support of litigation. These services include analysis of vehicle dynamics and reconstruction of accidents using VDANL, our ground vehicle computer simulation.

Staff and Facilities

STI's Hawthorne Facility includes engineering office space, simulation and computer laboratories. We also maintain vehicle test and measurement facilities.
