PIO SHORT COURSE - "From the Wright Flyer to Fly-by-Wire," a two-day professional development short course presented by David H. Klyde of Systems Technology, Inc., and David G. Mitchell of Hoh Aeronautics, Inc. PILOT-INDUCED OSCILLATIONS (PIO) are rare, unexpected, and unintended excursions in aircraft attitude and flight path caused by anomalous interactions between the aircraft and pilot. In this two-day short course, the phenomenon of PIO will be examined from its origins to today's events.

About STI

Founded in 1957, STI is a small R&D company devoted to the study of the behavior of dynamic systems, including ground and aerospace vehicles, and the human operators attempting to control them. Over the years our experience has included research in multiple areas of expertise, and resulted in major contributions in the analysis and simulation of vehicle dynamics, automatic and manual control theory, human factors, human-machine interaction and aircraft and ground vehicle safety.

STI's products include STISIM Drive, a fully interactive, PC-based driving simulator with unlimited customization potential; ParaSim, a virtual reality, PC-based parachute maneuvering and training simulator; VDANL, nonlinear vehicle dynamics analysis software; Program CC, control system design software; and CTT, the critical tracking task, a non-invasive fitness-for-duty testing device.
